The Large-diameter Carbon Steel Gate Valve is a heavy-duty gate valve designed specifically for large-scale piping systems. It is suitable for full-open or full-close control of media under high-flow and low-pressure-drop conditions.
Constructed from high-quality carbon steel, this valve features a robust structure, low flow resistance coefficient, and reliable sealing performance. It is widely used in water conservancy projects, municipal water supply and drainage, thermal power generation, petrochemical industry, long-distance pipelines, and other fields.
Its large-diameter design (generally DN600 and above) meets the requirements of large-flow transportation. Paired with an elastic or metal sealing structure, it ensures safe and economical operation over a long service life.

Design Features

  • Carbon Steel Construction: Valve body and bonnet are cast or forged from high-quality carbon steel such as ASTM A216 WCB, A105 or Q235, featuring high mechanical strength, good weldability and cost efficiency. Suitable for non-corrosive media including water, steam and petroleum products.

  • Outside Screw & Yoke (OS&Y): Stem threads are located outside the bonnet, providing clear visual indication of open/closed status and easy lubrication and maintenance, ideal for outdoor and critical services.

  • Non-Rising Stem (NRS): Stem threads are housed inside the body cavity, offering a compact structure suitable for buried or underground installations with limited space.

  • Flexible Wedge: An integral flexible slot is machined in the middle of the wedge, enabling self-energized sealing between the wedge and seats under media pressure, compensating for thermal expansion and minor deformations with excellent sealing performance.

  • Rigid Wedge: Solid or double disc design, suitable for high-temperature, high-pressure or particle-laden media, providing reliable shut-off with metal-to-metal sealing.

  • Flanged or Butt-Weld Ends: Large-diameter flanged ends comply with ASME B16.5 / EN 1092 for easy installation and maintenance; butt-weld ends are used in high-pressure or critical pipelines to minimize potential leakage points.

  • Full Bore Low Flow Resistance Design: When fully open, the wedge is completely lifted out of the flow passage, resulting in an extremely low flow resistance coefficient (Kv/Cv value close to that of straight pipe), low pressure drop and obvious energy-saving effect.

  • Blowout-Proof Stem & Back Seat: OS&Y design is equipped with anti-blowout shoulder. In full open position, the stem boss engages with the bonnet back seat, allowing online packing replacement and improving maintenance safety.

  • Guiding & Supporting Structure: Large-diameter wedges are fitted with upper and lower guide rails or ribs to ensure stable alignment during operation, preventing jamming and vibration, especially suitable for large-bore high differential pressure conditions.

  • Optional Bypass & Pressure Relief: Sizes DN600 and above can be equipped with bypass valves or pressure balancing holes to equalize differential pressure across the valve, reduce operating torque and protect sealing surfaces.

  • Multiple Actuation Options: Standard with handwheel or bevel gear operation; large-bore high-pressure models can be fitted with electric, pneumatic or hydraulic actuators for remote control and automated operation.
