J-VALVES
Design Features
Material of C95800 Nickel-Aluminum Bronze:The body is made of ASTM B148 C95800 nickel‑aluminum bronze (Cu9Ni6Al4Fe4Mn), containing 8.5–9.5% nickel, 4.0–5.0% aluminum, 4.0–5.0% iron, and 0.8–1.5% manganese. It offers excellent seawater corrosion resistance, high resistance to cavitation erosion and scouring corrosion, effectively inhibits marine biofouling, and is suitable for long‑term immersion in seawater.
Y‑Type Structure:The body flow passage forms a 45° angle with inlet and outlet, reducing flow resistance by 30–50% with low pressure loss and large filtration area, thus extending the cleaning interval of the strainer screen.
Removable Screen Design:The top flange cover or threaded cover allows quick access. The pull‑out screen design enables online removal, cleaning or replacement without dismantling the strainer from the pipeline, minimizing downtime and maintenance costs.
Low‑Pressure Flanged Connection:Both ends of the body are equipped with RF (Raised Face) flanges conforming to ASME B16.5 Class 150. For 3‑inch Class 150 flanges, the outer diameter is 190 mm, bolt circle diameter 152.4 mm, 4 × M16 bolts, flange thickness 23.9 mm, ensuring full compatibility with standard low‑pressure piping systems.
Blowdown and Venting:A 3/4" or 1" NPT blowdown connection is provided at the bottom, fitted with a ball valve or gate valve for online blowdown to remove deposited impurities at the bottom without disassembly. A differential pressure gauge connection can be provided on the side to monitor screen clogging.
Marine Antifouling Design:The C95800 material forms a dense oxide film on the surface, inhibiting the attachment of barnacles, algae and other marine organisms. Optional marine antifouling coating or electrolytic antifouling system is available to further extend maintenance intervals.
Compact and Lightweight Design:The 3‑inch Y‑type unit has an approximate length of 330 mm and weighs about 10–15 kg, facilitating installation in confined spaces such as ship compartments and offshore platforms, and reducing support structure costs.

Applications
Marine Seawater Systems:Used for 3‑inch low‑pressure pipeline filtration in ship ballast water systems, bilge water systems, firewater seawater systems and cooling seawater systems. The C95800 material resists seawater corrosion and biofouling, removing shells, algae, sediment and other impurities to protect pumps and valves.
Offshore Platform Engineering:Applied in seawater lifting, cooling, firewater and utility systems of offshore oil platforms, FPSOs and drilling rigs for 3‑inch low‑pressure pipeline filtration. It withstands dual corrosion from marine atmosphere and seawater immersion, ensuring safe operation of platform equipment.
Seawater Desalination Plants:Used for inlet filtration of intake pumps and high‑pressure pumps in reverse osmosis (RO), multi‑stage flash (MSF) and multi‑effect distillation (MED) seawater desalination systems, removing suspended solids and colloids to protect precision membrane elements and high‑pressure pumps.
Marine Chemical Industry:Suitable for 3‑inch brine and concentrated seawater pipeline filtration in seawater salt production, seawater bromine extraction, seawater magnesium extraction and other chemical processes, resisting high‑concentration salt solution corrosion and removing crystalline salt blocks and impurities.
General Industrial Applications:Ideal for impurity filtration of 3‑inch low‑pressure seawater, brackish water, salt solutions and other corrosive media, especially in marine environments and highly corrosive conditions.
Advantages & Value
Excellent Seawater Corrosion Resistance:The corrosion rate of C95800 nickel‑aluminum bronze in seawater is only 1/50 that of carbon steel and 1/10 that of brass. A dense protective film of Al₂O₃·CuO forms on the surface, preventing rust during long‑term immersion and providing a service life of over 20 years, avoiding frequent replacement of carbon steel strainers and coating failure risks.
Superior Antifouling Performance:The nickel‑aluminum bronze surface inhibits marine organism attachment, reducing screen clogging by barnacles and algae. Maintenance intervals are extended by 3–5 times, lowering dry‑docking cleaning frequency and costs, especially suitable for long‑immersed offshore platforms.
Low Pressure Loss & High Filtration Efficiency:The 45° inclined Y‑type structure reduces flow resistance by 30–50%, with an effective filtration area ≥ 3 times the pipe cross‑section. Low pressure loss and high flow capacity extend screen cleaning intervals and reduce pumping energy consumption.
Convenient Online Maintenance:The top flange cover allows quick opening, and the pull‑out screen can be removed for cleaning or replacement without pipeline disassembly, with maintenance time less than 30 minutes, minimizing production losses.
Electrochemical Compatibility:Small galvanic potential difference with steel hulls and stainless steel pipelines, good compatibility with cathodic protection, avoiding galvanic corrosion, ensuring overall system reliability and reducing anti‑corrosion engineering costs.
Compact & Lightweight Installation:The 3‑inch unit weighs only 10–15 kg with a length of approximately 300–330 mm, enabling flexible installation in confined spaces such as ship compartments and platform modules, reducing pipe rack and support costs by more than 30%.
Classification Society Certification Support:Type approvals from ABS, DNV, BV, CCS and other classification societies are available upon request, meeting classification requirements for ships and offshore engineering, shortening owner acceptance cycles and enhancing project competitiveness.
