Design Features
Material of C95800 Nickel‑Aluminum Bronze:The body is manufactured from ASTM B148 C95800 nickel‑aluminum bronze (Cu9Ni6Al4Fe4Mn), containing Ni 8.5–9.5%, Al 4.0–5.0%, Fe 4.0–5.0%, and Mn 0.8–1.5%. It provides excellent seawater corrosion resistance, high resistance to cavitation and erosion corrosion, and effectively inhibits marine biofouling, making it suitable for long‑term immersion in seawater.
Y‑Type Inclined Design:The body flow passage forms a 45° angle with inlet and outlet connections. Compared with T‑type strainers, flow resistance is reduced by 30–50% with low pressure loss. The filtration area is larger at the same nominal size, extending screen cleaning intervals and improving system operating efficiency.
Removable Strainer Screen Design:The top flange cover or threaded cover allows quick access. The pull‑out screen design enables online removal, cleaning or replacement without dismantling the strainer from the pipeline, minimizing downtime and maintenance costs.
Low‑Pressure Flanged Connection:Both ends of the body are equipped with RF (Raised Face) flanges complying with ASME B16.5 Class 150. For 2‑inch Class 150 flanges, the outer diameter is 152 mm, bolt circle diameter is 120.7 mm, bolt quantity is 4×M16, and flange thickness is 19.1 mm, ensuring full compatibility with standard low‑pressure piping systems.
Marine Antifouling Design:The C95800 alloy forms a dense protective oxide layer that resists attachment of barnacles, algae and other marine organisms. Optional marine antifouling coatings or electrolytic antifouling systems are available to further extend maintenance intervals.
Compact and Lightweight Design:The 2‑inch Y‑type unit has an approximate length of 260 mm and weighs 5–8 kg, facilitating installation in confined spaces such as ship compartments and offshore platforms, and reducing support structure costs.

Applications
Marine Seawater Systems:Used for 2‑inch pipeline filtration in ship ballast water systems, bilge water systems, firewater seawater systems and cooling seawater systems. The C95800 material resists seawater corrosion and biofouling, removing shells, algae, sediment and other impurities to protect pumps and valves.
Offshore Platform Engineering:Applied in 2‑inch seawater lift, cooling, firewater and utility systems on offshore oil platforms, FPSOs and drilling rigs. It withstands dual corrosion from marine atmosphere and seawater immersion, ensuring safe operation of platform equipment.
Seawater Desalination Plants:Used for inlet filtration of intake pumps and high‑pressure pumps in 2‑inch lines of RO (Reverse Osmosis), MSF (Multi‑Stage Flash) and MED (Multi‑Effect Distillation) desalination systems. Removes suspended solids and colloids to protect precision membrane elements and high‑pressure pumps.
Coastal Power Plants:Suitable for 2‑inch circulating cooling water, seawater desulfurization and condenser cooling lines in coastal thermal power and nuclear power plants. C95800 provides superior seawater corrosion resistance and avoids dezincification corrosion common in copper alloy strainers, protecting titanium condenser tubes.
Marine Chemical Industry:Applied in 2‑inch brine and concentrated seawater filtration for seawater salt production, bromine extraction, magnesium extraction and other chemical processes. Resists high‑concentration salt solution corrosion and removes crystalline salt particles and impurities.
General Industrial Service:Ideal for impurity filtration of 2‑inch low‑pressure seawater, brackish water, salt solutions and other corrosive media, especially in marine environments and highly corrosive applications.
Advantages and Value
Excellent Seawater Corrosion Resistance:In seawater, the corrosion rate of C95800 nickel‑aluminum bronze is only 1/50 that of carbon steel and 1/10 that of brass. A dense protective film of Al₂O₃·CuO forms on the surface, preventing corrosion during long‑term immersion and providing a service life of more than 20 years, eliminating frequent replacement and coating failure risks of carbon steel strainers.
Superior Antifouling Performance:The nickel‑aluminum bronze surface discourages marine organism attachment, reducing clogging by barnacles and algae. Maintenance intervals are extended by 3–5 times, lowering dry‑docking cleaning frequency and costs, especially for long‑immersion offshore installations.
High‑Efficiency Y‑Type Low‑Pressure‑Drop Filtration:The 45° inclined design reduces flow resistance by 30–50%. Effective filtration area is ≥3 times the pipe cross‑section, delivering low pressure loss and high flow capacity, extending cleaning intervals and reducing pumping energy consumption.
Compact, Lightweight Installation:Weighing only 5–8 kg with a length of approximately 260 mm, the 2‑inch Y‑type strainer allows flexible installation in confined spaces such as ship compartments and platform modules, reducing pipe rack and support costs by more than 30%.
System Protection Benefits:Effectively removes impurities from seawater to protect downstream pumps, valves, heat exchangers, membrane assemblies and other precision equipment, extending overall system service life and reducing equipment failure and maintenance costs.
What do Class 1500 and WCB actually mean?Class 1500 is a rating category, not a universal operating pressureIn industrial valve practice, 1500LB usually refers to Class 1500.
