Ordinary wafer butterfly valves are clamped by flanges on both sides of the pipeline. If either flange is removed, the valve will fall off, requiring tedious pipeline depressurization and disassembly procedures.
Lug butterfly valves feature integrally cast threaded lugs around the valve body. The valve can be fixed using bolts from only one flange. When maintaining a section of pipeline, the opposite line does not need to be drained, cutting downtime for over 70%. They are indispensable valves for large-scale continuous-production industrial plants.
Compared with flanged triple offset butterfly valves, lug wafer bodies have thinner walls, slashing overall weight by 30%. This lessens the bearing load on pipeline supports and cuts costs for civil engineering and supporting brackets — the benefit is especially prominent for pipelines of 16 inches and above.
All J-VALVES lug butterfly valves support two flange sealing faces: RF Raised Face and RTJ Ring Type Joint metal sealing.
Soft seats are applicable for room-temperature clean water and air; metal hard seats are designed for high-temperature & high-pressure media including superheated steam, oil & gas, pulverized coal, etc. The Class 150 pressure rating can withstand maximum working temperature up to 425°C.
The 16-inch large bore valve body is cast as a single piece to eliminate leakage risks of split bodies, fully complying with ASTM A216 WCB material standards. Each valve body is supplied with a full spectrum material test report.
Inner and outer surfaces are coated with epoxy zinc-rich anti-corrosion paint. As shown in workshop photos, finished valves feature uniform white protective coating, resisting rust during long-term indoor storage or outdoor service.
The triple offset design of disc and stem eliminates seat friction during opening and closing, preventing abrasion from medium erosion.
The metal hard seat is hardfaced with Stellite 6 alloy, achieving Class VI zero leakage standard. Its service life is more than twice that of ordinary single offset butterfly valves, making it ideal for flammable and explosive oil & gas media.
Worm gear reducers are independently manufactured in-house with torque perfectly matched for 16-inch large bore valves, delivering smooth manual operation.
They can be seamlessly fitted with explosion-proof electric actuators and pneumatic actuators without extra transition brackets. Complete valves are fully calibrated before delivery for direct on-site installation by customers.
Molds ranging from 2" to 48" are always stocked in the workshop, alongside semi-finished blanks for Class 150LB and 300LB. Bulk orders of hundreds of units can be delivered within 30 days.
As seen in the factory photo, dozens of 16-inch lug butterfly valves are assembled simultaneously under standardized quality inspection processes. Every valve undergoes dual testing: shell hydrostatic pressure test and seat air tightness test.
62 sets of J-VALVES 16" 150LB WCB lug wafer butterfly valves were adopted for main circulating water pipeline renovation at a thermal power plant in North China.
Original old-style flanged butterfly valves were heavy, overloading pipeline supports, and full pipeline shutdown was mandatory for maintenance, causing massive production losses.
After switching to lug wafer butterfly valves, the lighter weight eases support load, and single-side maintenance eliminates full-line shutdown. Annual maintenance downtime is reduced by over 200 hours, delivering remarkable energy-saving and efficiency-improving results.
A complete chemical equipment manufacturer in the Middle East places long-term bulk orders for J-VALVES lug wafer butterfly valves, covering sizes 10"~18" Class 150LB WCB with RTJ metal sealing configuration.
Customer Pain Point: Overseas projects require strict certification audits, yet most valve suppliers cannot provide complete English API and CE documentation.
J-VALVES delivers full sets of English material certificates, pressure test reports and API certifications together with shipments. The valves feature salt-alkali corrosion resistance for outdoor coastal environments. We have maintained stable supply for 4 consecutive years and become their exclusive Chinese butterfly valve supplier.
For high-pressure working conditions with bores above 14 inches, prioritize one-piece cast lug bodies. Welded lugs may crack under long-term pressure.
For high-temperature media in oil, gas and coal chemical industries, triple offset metal hard sealing is mandatory; ordinary rubber soft seats are not acceptable.
For export projects, verify in advance that the manufacturer holds complete API 6D and CE export certifications to avoid customs clearance delays.
