Analysis of Differences in Design Specifications And Application Scenarios of European Standard And German Standard Globe Valves

Differences in design specifications for globe valves
Design Standards

• European Standard (EN): EN 12516-1 is the design standard for industrial valves in European standards. It stipulates the design, manufacturing, and testing requirements of valves, ensuring that valves have good sealing performance and mechanical strength under different working conditions.
• German Standard (DIN): DIN 3356 is the design standard for globe valves and check valves in German standards, covering valve dimensions, design, materials, and testing methods.
Structural Length
• European Standard (EN): EN 558-1 stipulates the structural length standard for metal valves, ensuring the standardization and interchangeability of valve dimensions.
• German Standard (DIN): DIN 3202 also stipulates the structural length of metal valves. However, compared with the EN standard, the structural length of globe valves under the DIN standard is usually shorter.
Flange Connection
• European Standard (EN): EN 1092-1 stipulates the dimensions, tolerances, and connection requirements of flanges, which is applicable to various industrial valves.
• German Standard (DIN): DIN 2543-2545 are the detailed regulations on flanges in German standards. The flange design emphasizes sealing performance and durability.
Testing and Inspection
• European Standard (EN): EN 12266 stipulates the testing requirements of valves, including pressure testing and sealing performance testing, to ensure the reliability of valves in practical applications.
• German Standard (DIN): DIN 3230 stipulates the testing and inspection standards of valves. Its testing methods focus on verifying the performance of valves under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions.

Analysis of application scenarios of globe valves

Petrochemical Industry

• European Standard (EN): Globe valves complying with EN standards are widely used in the petrochemical industry, especially in situations where high sealing performance and corrosion resistance are required. For example, the bellows globe valves of EN standards, due to their double-seal design, can effectively prevent leakage and are suitable for handling corrosive media.
• German Standard (DIN): Globe valves of DIN standards are also favored in the petrochemical industry, especially in cases where high reliability and long - life are needed. DIN-standard globe valves usually have a more compact design, which is suitable for environments with limited installation space.
Power Industry
• European Standard (EN): In the power industry, EN-standard globe valves are often used in steam systems and cold and hot water systems. Their good sealing performance and mechanical strength can meet the strict requirements of power systems for valves.
• German Standard (DIN): DIN-standard globe valves are also widely applied in the power industry, especially in situations where frequent operation and rapid response are required. DIN-standard globe valves usually have a faster opening and closing speed, which is suitable for the rapid adjustment of power systems.
Food Processing Industry
• European Standard (EN): The application of EN-standard globe valves in the food processing industry mainly focuses on occasions where high hygiene standards and easy-to-clean properties are required. EN-standard globe valves usually adopt stainless-steel materials, which are easy to clean and disinfect and can meet the hygiene requirements of the food processing industry.
• German Standard (DIN): DIN-standard globe valves are also widely used in the food processing industry, especially in situations where high sealing performance and corrosion resistance are needed. DIN-standard globe valves usually have better sealing performance, which can effectively prevent food contamination.
