(1) Selection Based on Fluid Characteristics
Liquid: If the fluid is water or a low-viscosity liquid with few impurities, a Y-type strainer can be selected; if the fluid is oil or contains a large amount of impurities, it is recommended to choose a basket strainer.
Gas: For gas filtration, filtration accuracy and pressure drop usually need to be considered. The Y-type strainer is suitable for low-precision filtration, and the basket strainer is suitable for high-precision filtration.
(2) Selection According to System Requirements
Flow Rate and Pressure Drop: If the system flow rate is large and the requirement for pressure drop is strict, it is recommended to choose a basket strainer; if the flow rate is small, the Y-type strainer may be more economical.
Installation Space: If the installation space is limited, the compact design of the Y-type strainer may be more suitable; if there is sufficient space, the larger filtration area of the basket strainer can provide a better filtration effect.
(3) Selection Based on Maintenance Requirements
Maintenance Frequency: If the fluid has more impurities, the maintenance frequency of the basket strainer is relatively low because it can accommodate more impurities; if the fluid has fewer impurities, the simple structure of the Y-type strainer makes its maintenance more convenient.
Initial Cost: The Y-type strainer has a simple structure and a lower cost; the basket strainer has a more complex structure and a higher cost.
Long-term Benefits: Although the initial cost of the basket strainer is high, its larger filtration area and lower maintenance frequency may be more economical in long-term operation.
