Structural Design
The Y-type strainer is shaped like the letter "Y". It is mainly composed of nozzles, the main pipe, a strainer screen, flanges and fasteners. The strainer screen is installed inside the main pipe. After the fluid enters from the inlet, it is strainered through the strainer screen. Impurities are intercepted on the inner side of the strainer screen, and the clean fluid flows out from the outlet.
Working Principle
The Y-type strainer is based on the physical interception of the strainer screen. It intercepts solid impurities in the fluid through the pore size of the strainer screen. Its design advantages lie in its low flow resistance and compact structure, making it suitable for installation in pipeline systems with limited space.
Structural Design
The main components of the basket strainer include nozzles, cylinder, strainer basket, flanges, and fasteners. The strainer basket is its core component, usually in the shape of a basket, with a large filtration area, capable of effectively intercepting impurities in the fluid.
Working Principle
After the fluid enters the basket strainer, it is strainered through the pores of the strainer basket, and the impurities are intercepted inside the strainer basket. It has a large filtration area and high filtration efficiency, making it suitable for handling fluids with a large amount of impurities.
(I) Filtration Area
The filtration area of the basket strainer is significantly larger than that of the Y-strainer, making it suitable for handling fluids with a high content of impurities.
(II) Installation Method
The Y-strainer is flexible in installation and can be installed vertically or horizontally. The basket strainer is usually only installed horizontally.
(III) Maintenance Cost
The Y-strainer is easy to maintain. Only the flange cover needs to be removed for cleaning. The basket strainer requires regular removal of the strainer basket for cleaning.
(IV)Application Scenarios
The Y-strainer is suitable for fluid systems with few impurities, such as the inlet end of a pressure reducing valve. The basket strainer is suitable for fluid systems with a high content of impurities, such as chemical pipelines.
