Cryogenic gate valves are critical isolation equipment for LNG, air separation and liquid chemical transportation pipelines, designed with extended stem to prevent freezing damage of actuator under low temperature ranging from -29℃ to -46℃. Two mainstream casting materials are WCB carbon steel and LCB low-temperature carbon steel. Since 2009, J-VALVES provides customized 12" 300LB ASME extended stem cryogenic gate valves for full range cryogenic service.
WCB: General carbon steel, minimum service temperature -29℃, ideal for natural gas and propane pipeline with moderate cost and stable pressure resistance.
LCB: Special low-temperature carbon steel with cryogenic impact heat treatment, minimum working temperature -46℃, standard material for LNG, liquid ethylene and liquid ammonia, excellent toughness to avoid brittle fracture under deep cold condition.
The mass-produced 12 inch 300LB gate valves shown in factory photos are J-VALVES standard extended stem cryogenic type, interchangeable LCB/WCB body, Class 300 flanged connection, perfect for main pipeline of large cryogenic storage tanks.
Insulated split extended stem anti-freezing design
Multi-layer thermal insulation structure separates pneumatic actuator from cold valve body completely. Multi-stage low temperature packing avoids frosting and packing crack under -46℃, solving the leakage problem of standard short stem gate valves for outdoor LNG tank terminals.
Full cryogenic non-destructive testing for LCB valve body
All LCB cast bodies pass cryogenic impact test, magnetic particle inspection, hydrostatic and pneumatic leakage test. Every Class 300 cryogenic gate valve carries 1.1 times rated air tightness test, meeting API 6D zero leakage requirement. WCB bodies are tested under simulated low temperature condition to guarantee stable operation at -29℃.
Precision investment casting for 12" large bore
Lost wax casting process delivers smooth internal flow path without sand hole to reduce medium flow resistance. Reinforced thick flange prevents deformation and seepage under long-term Class 300 high pressure cryogenic service.
Complete export certification
J-VALVES cryogenic valves are certified with API 6D, CE, ISO9001. LCB & WCB cryogenic gate valves are exported in bulk to Southeast Asia and Middle East LNG projects with full set of customs certification documents.
Material | Min Temperature | Suitable Medium | Typical Project |
WCB | -29℃ | Natural gas, propane, low temp wastewater | City gas distribution station, coal chemical mild cryogenic pipeline |
LCB | -46℃ | LNG, liquid ammonia, liquid ethylene, liquid CO2 | LNG receiving terminal, cryogenic storage tank, air separation unit, overseas liquefied gas plant |
In 2025, one Southeast Asian LNG receiving terminal purchased 42 sets of 12" 300LB LCB extended stem cryogenic gate valves for tank main isolation pipeline. The client suffered frequent internal leakage and actuator freezing with conventional short stem valves. After switching to J-VALVES LCB cryogenic gate valves, zero leakage and no freezing failure were recorded within 18 continuous months, cutting on-site maintenance cost by 60%.
A northwest coal chemical plant in China ordered 86 sets WCB extended stem cryogenic gate valves for propane recovery pipeline. All units operate stably under Class 300 high pressure all year round and passed third-party safety supervision cryogenic pressure test.
Choose cost-effective WCB cryogenic gate valve if medium temperature above -29℃ for common natural gas service. LCB heat-treated low temperature carbon steel body is mandatory for deep cold medium like LNG and liquid ammonia. Founded in 2009, J-VALVES specializes in industrial cryogenic valves. Blank casting stock of 12" Class 300 LCB/WCB cryogenic gate valves is available for mass delivery within 7-15 working days, non-standard drawing customization is supported.
