I. Basic Characteristics of C84400 Recyclable Bronze and S32760 Stainless Steel
(1) C84400 Recyclable Bronze
C84400 is a lead bronze, which belongs to copper-based alloys. It has good corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and thermal conductivity. Its chemical composition mainly includes copper (78.0% - 82.0%), zinc (7.0% - 10.0%), tin (2.3% - 3.5%), and lead (6.0% - 8.0%). The mechanical properties of this material are also quite excellent. Its tensile strength can reach 207 MPa, yield strength is 103 MPa, and elongation is 16%.
(2) S32760 Stainless Steel
S32760 is a super duplex stainless steel. Its chemical composition has been optimized and contains high chromium (24% - 26%), molybdenum (3% - 4%), nitrogen (0.20% - 0.30%), and a small amount of tungsten (0.5% - 1.0%). The tensile strength of this material is as high as 790 - 930 MPa, yield strength is 550 - 750 MPa, and elongation is 20% - 25%. Its duplex structure (austenite and ferrite) endows it with excellent corrosion resistance and high strength.
II. Comparison of Environmental Ratings between C84400 Recyclable Bronze and S32760 Stainless Steel
Items | C84400 Recyclable Bronze | S32760 Stainless Steel |
Main Components | Copper, Zinc, Tin, Lead | Chromium, Nickel, Molybdenum, Nitrogen, Tungsten, Copper |
Recyclability | High. The main component copper can be completely recycled. | Medium. Stainless steel can also be recycled, but the recovery rate is lower than that of copper. |
Corrosion Resistance | Good, but has poor tolerance to certain acidic environments. | Excellent, especially performs well in chloride and acidic environments. |
Service Life | Medium, depending on the application environment. | Long, especially in corrosive environments. |
Hazardous Substances | Contains lead, but is exempted by RoHS in some applications. | No hazardous substances, meets the requirements of RoHS. |
Comprehensive Environmental Rating | B (High recyclability, but the presence of lead limits its environmental friendliness.) | A (Strong corrosion resistance, no hazardous substances, long service life.) |
III. Conclusions and Recommendations
Under the trend of green manufacturing, S32760 stainless steel is superior to C84400 RECYCLABLE BRONZE in terms of environmental rating due to its excellent corrosion resistance, absence of hazardous substances, and longer service life. However, the high recyclability of C84400 BRONZE and its exemption in specific applications also give it certain advantages in some fields. When enterprises choose filter materials, they should make a trade-off according to the specific application environment and environmental protection requirements. If the application environment has extremely high requirements for corrosion resistance and needs to comply with strict environmental regulations, S32760 stainless steel is a better choice. While in some areas that are cost-sensitive and have no strict restrictions on lead content, C84400 recyclable bronze can also be a viable option.
In conclusion, as the concept of green manufacturing continues to penetrate deeper, enterprises should pay more attention to the environmental protection performance and sustainability of materials. By reasonably selecting FILTER materials, they can contribute to environmental protection.
