I.Requirements for valve sealing performance under high temperature and high pressure conditions.
High temperature and high pressure conditions impose extremely strict requirements on the sealing performance of valves. High temperature may lead to creep deformation, oxidation corrosion, and aging of sealing materials. While high pressure requires valves to be able to withstand high fluid pressure and maintain sealing. Valves must have the following characteristics:
High temperature strength and oxidation resistance: Materials need to maintain sufficient strength and stability at high temperatures to prevent sealing failure due to creep deformation.
High pressure sealing performance: Valves need to effectively prevent fluid leakage under high pressure. At the same time, materials need to have good elastic deformation ability.
Fatigue resistance: Valves need to maintain stable performance under frequent opening and closing and alternating stress.
II.Comparison of Sealing Performance
(I)Sealing Reliability
• Gate Valve: Under high temperature and high pressure, the sealing performance of the gate valve depends on the fitting accuracy of the gate and the valve seat. In long-term operation, it is easy to cause sealing failure due to wear.
• Ball Valve: The sealing performance of the ball valve is more reliable. Especially in metal-sealed ball valves, its sealing pair can remain stable under high temperature and high pressure.
(II) Resistance to High Temperature and High Pressure
• Gate Valve: The gate valve shows better sealing performance under high temperature and high pressure, but it is necessary to select suitable high-temperature resistant materials. Its sealing surface is easy to fail due to high-temperature oxidation and high-pressure wear.
• Ball Valve: The ball valve has excellent sealing performance under high temperature and high pressure. Especially metal-sealed ball valves can maintain sealing at higher temperatures and pressures.
(III) Maintenance and Service Life
• Gate Valve: The structure of the gate valve is relatively complex and the maintenance cost is high. Its sealing surface is easy to wear and needs regular inspection and replacement.
• Ball Valve: The structure of the ball valve is simple and maintenance is convenient. Its sealing performance is stable and has a long service life.
